TSU Commercial Music Ensemble
The Tennessee State University Commercial Music Ensemble is a self-contained group that performs popular music of all genres. The group is made up of Commercial Music majors at TSU. Over the years, the ensemble has traveled through 10 states playing in major markets such as Chicago, Memphis, Detroit, and Atlanta. Highlights over the years include performing on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show, performing for the 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Riders, opening for Larry Gatlin, playing at the Country Music Hall of Fame, the BB King Museum, the Italian Lights Festival, the Nashville Kurdish Festival, Nashville October Fest, Sounds baseball games, Nashville Shores, Holiday World theme park, Idlewild theme park, the Bellevue Picnic, and the Tennessee State Fair. In 2012 the ensemble produced and released a music CD celebrating the centennial year of TSU. In the summer of 2014, a group traveled to Colombia, South America to perform at various universities in Cartagena. The Commercial Music Ensemble is directed by the Coordinator of Commercial Music and Associate Professor of Music, Dr. Mark Crawford.
